Put a set of the bluegrass strings on my 2020 Recording King RD-328, and absolutely love them, Very rich with excellent deep bass. Bassier than the EJ17 Strings That were on it. Clear mids and crisp trebles. Im a new customer!

A bit more than I usually pay, but I think they’re worth it. The gauge is heavy enough to offer a rich tone, and light enough to allow for quick and clear playing.

I can’t say enough good things about WoodTone Strings. The quality, sound, and deep tone are best I’ve come across. The price is cheaper than just about every other name-brand string. Orders are always fulfilled and shipped in a timely manner. Thank you for all you do! Cheers – LJR

I bought one set each of the country and the Bluegrass strings. The country strings went on my J45 and they sound great. The Bluegrass strings went on my Dove and they are awesome! I’m happy with both, but I’m pretty sure that there are lots more Bluegrass strings in my Gibsons’ futures.

The strings are fine except for the little e on the Bluegrass kit which broke at the base in when I was tuning it up. Would be nice if you sent me another one. Thanks

For sure, we’ll send you a replacement high E. Glad you like the strings!

I am a song writer and singer in Buffalo Wyoming.
my venue is the Historic occidental Hotel. I play Music 7 nights a week all summer and go through guitar strings
often. I find the Woodtone Bluegrass Strings to be warm and of great tone. i am finding they have a longer life on my guitars than my previous strings. i recommend these strings to the pickers out there.

Had some doubt but when I final my got ‘em on the sound was gorgeous. I have yet to use to bluegrass strings (tho I did order a pair and will more than likely put them on next) but I’m sure they’ll sound just as great. String orders have been backed up so they came a bit late but Woodtonestrings totally made up for it and sent me 2 extra sets for no charge. (thanks, Rob! Too raw! ) Will not be needing to try anymore strings, these are my people now and my strings. Thanks!

Been trying different strings now and then for years but seldom have I found keepers. Go back to my old standbys in a short time. These have been the exceptions, the small amount of extra tension over lights give a very good feel, without the heaviness of mediums. I am on my fourth set and plan to order more. Have a new ooo coming with the shorter scale and will be anxious to see how they sound on that. Longevity seems very good and the tone is outstanding!

They sound good from the moment they’re strung up. Good feel as well. My only complaint would be they don’t last as long as I’d like. After 4 or 5 days I had to change them.

    • Woodtone Strings

Hey Adam, Glad you liked the strings! We usually get a lot longer life out of the strings from our experience, but that all depends on a lot of factors… like the weather, where you store your guitar when you’re not playing it, the type of moisture someone’s fingers leaves on the fretboard, if you cleaned your strings with a microfiber cloth before and after playing, etc. The micro coating we add to the strings should keep them lasting much longer and smoother to play that other strings. We appreciate the feedback though! Hope you can try some again and hope they last longer for you next time! Cheers – Rob

Finally, a great option for those who prefer not to use full medium gauge strings. I’ve used 12-56 “bluegrass” sets for years, and never liked the tension imbalance between the E-A-D and G-B-E strings. This Woodtone set has a nicely balanced feel and great tone, and is now my go-to bluegrass string for jamming and performing.

I am an average, at best, guitar player- playing with friends and at our little church. I really like the tone your strings produce. I have given several sets away to friends and for me, these are my “go to strings “. Great product!! I will add I have the Country strings on another guitar and really enjoy them as well !

I just reordered but still playing on my first set of the bluegrass strings! After 2 months strings sound great. I play a Collings D3 custom and use a Blue chip Tad 50 pick that plays so smooth on these strings. The coating on the string best ever! I reordered 2 sets of the country and 1 bluegrass for some friends so they love the sound as much as me.

    • Woodtone Strings

Hey James – Glad you like the strings! Really sorry about the delay on your order. You won’t see delays like that on future orders…we were a bit behind there for a month or so, but we’ve increased production and we’re back to shipping all strings within 24 hours. If you send us an email when you place your next order, we’ll hook you up with a free pack to make up for it. Cheers!

The bluegrass set sounds great on my ’68 D35; they’ve been on a couple of weeks. I tend not to change strings all that ofter.
The country set I put on my ’55 000-21 sound a bit thin. I strung both guitars up at the same time. We’ll see how both sets last. So I’d give the country set 3 stars and the bluegrass set 5 stars. I have another set of each. Perhaps I’ll try the other country set on my D18…

Put them on my Gibson AJ last week and so far am pleased with the sound. I was using light strings before and can feel the difference in these stings being a mix of light and medium strings. No sure if I like the heavier strings, but will give them a fair trial. So far I’m satisfied.

I ordered 2 sets of the Bluegrass strings to try on my Martin HD-28 and D-15. I’ve been playing them for several hours everyday for 3 weeks now and they still sound great. I like the intermediate size between the lights and mediums too.

These I like WAY better than the country strings. Good projection and clarity. The feel is much better as well. It never occurred to me the the core plays a significant role in string making. These I put on my OM-21, and was/am loving the sound I’m getting.

These Bluegrass strings are awesome! I bought 2 sets. I put one on my Collins D1H and a set on my Martin HD28V. They stretched in quickly and are solid. The tone is wonderful, balanced and clear. This is the first set of lighter strings that I am happy with. I will order again.

I’ve tried alot of strings over the years but these are by far the best. Once I tuned my guitar, there was very little stretching. That’s what I like about these strings. Like the old saying goes, you’ve tried the rest, now try the best.

After tying multiple brands in my quest to find the strings my Guild D-55 felt most alive with the search may have ended. The Woodtone Bluegrass gave my guitar more projection, balance, warmth, and bell-like trebles with great sustain. I never thought I would find a real contender with Elixirs PB but we have a real heavyweight contender with Woodtone at a better price point!!!!

Put them on my Martin and they sounded great. Love the feel of them as I went up and down the fret board. Very happy with the tone in generated. I like them a lot. I plan to buy more after I test the Country set. I have a feeling it’s going to be hard to choose between the two. Are you planning to make any for 12 string guitars?

    • Woodtone Strings

Awesome, thanks Trip! Glad you like the Bluegrass Series! You can’t go wrong with the Country Series either… they’re pretty similar but a little lighter to the touch because of the lighter tension. I think you’ll like them also. Yep, we’ll be manufacturing some strings for 12 string guitar fairly soon — probably will have them available within a few months or so. You’ll find them on our website when we have them ready to go. Thanks for the review!
